“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” ~Matthew 9:14

Sunday School

Each Sunday at UCC Parker Hilltop, children and youth have meaningful opportunities to participate in worship and connect with peers in a small group setting.

Worship is designed to be multi-generational and interactive, inviting children and youth to engage in lighting altar candles (“bringing in the light”), responding to reflection questions, joining pastor-led discussions, worshiping through music, sharing during “Joys and Concerns,” receiving communion, and assisting with worship rituals.

Each service includes “Time with the Next Generation,” where Pastor Quinn introduces the sermon theme through a short, age-appropriate lesson.

  • During the service, preschool through elementary-age children are invited to a Faith Formation class, prepared weekly by a dedicated team. The 20-minute lesson follows a consistent format:

    • Welcome and introductions

    • Prayer to the Trinity

    • A look at the church calendar

    • A liturgy-related lesson

    • A follow-up activity

Activities may include music, art, literature, movement, or outdoor time. Our church’s grounds—a labyrinth, field, playground, and wooded area—offer space to connect with nature regularly.

  • At UCC Parker Hilltop, the Next Generation is a valued part of our congregation. All mission projects, traditions, and events include children and youth—who often take the lead!

Throughout the year, they make a real impact on the life of the church. In return, they learn about the life of Jesus, discover their God-given potential, and experience the Holy Spirit’s daily guidance.

Confirmation

Youth confirmation groups are formed as needed, and families may seek individual or group support for spiritual or life concerns at any time. Youth are active in many areas of church life, including technology, fellowship, and council responsibilities.

“We are a SafeChurch congregation, and we practice healthy boundaries and child care policies designed to protect the emotional and physical safety of our children.  All teachers are vetted and background checked.  The teachers work in teams, never alone.
