Our UCCPH Values & Beliefs
UCC Parker Hilltop founded October 1962
Our Beliefs
• We know that God loves all people unconditionally;
• We experience Holy Spirit joy in worship and in service to others;
• We feel included and affirmed in church community and life no matter who we are
or where we are on our journey of faith;
• We invite questions of God, the Bible, and the Church;
• We seek through Jesus Christ to do justice, love, kindness, and be a part of something greater than ourselves.
What we believe
in the United Church of Christ
-
God the Loving Creator, Christ, the sole head of the church, and the Holy Spirit, who guides and brings about the creative and redemptive work of God in the world.
-
Each of us is at a different stage of that journey.
-
No matter what – no matter where we are on life's journey – notwithstanding race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, class or creed – we all belong to God.
-
The UCC has no rigid formulation of doctrine or attachment to creeds or structures. Its overarching creed is love.
-
As in the tradition of the prophets and apostles, God calls the church to speak truth to power, liberate the oppressed, care for the poor and comfort the afflicted.
-
In the UCC, members, congregations and structures have the breathing room to explore and to hear... for after all, God is still speaking...
The Sacraments
-
We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month and on special occasions. Our Communion Table is open to all people, including children. The breaking of bread and pouring of juice remind us of our shared community in Christ and the discipleship to which we are called. Everyone is welcome to participate in communion; it is never required.
-
At our church, we baptize individuals who are connected to our community. Baptisms are open to people of all ages. Baptism is a sacrament that connects individuals to the family of Christ, and no special profession of faith is required. Baptism is an expression of belonging to the community of faith.
